I led the user experience design process for the Emmy Award Winning “The Long Khan” project.

Epix, the premium channel and video on demand service, needed to promote their Shatnerpalooza event and the world premiere of The Captains, a documentary by William Shatner. I was instrumental in developing a concept that Star Trek fans would find engaging and help promote the movie organically on social.

So we allowed Star Trek fans become part of one of the most celebrated and parodied moment in the Star Trek lexicon; Captain Kirk's Khaaaan scream from Star Trek II. Users could go online and film themselves screaming "khaaaan!" Their clip was automatically edited together with the rest of user's submissions, creating one, hours long "khaaaan!" Each video is customized with the user's clip appearing right after Captain Kirk so that the user can share a personalized version of their Long Kahn.

The result was a Khaaaan lasting more than 3 hours, a successful movie launch, and an Emmy Award.
